Zakiyah
Zakiyah (21) is a final-year Chemical Engineering student at Universitas Syiah Kuala with a strong interest in chemical manufacturing, downstream processing, and sustainability. She has hands-on experience as a Bioprocess Laboratory Assistant and Process Engineer Intern at PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda, where she deepened her skills in process optimization and industrial operations. Currently developing proficiency in Aspen HYSYS, Microsoft Visio, MATLAB, and Python, she is building a solid foundation in process simulation, system modeling, and data analysis. Zakiyah excels in team based environments, communicates effectively, and adapts quickly to new challenges, currently seeking an opportunity to apply and grow her skills in a professional setting, she is eager to contribute meaningfully toward company goals.

Project: Synthesis and Characterization of Polyethersulfone Membranes - Hybrid Silica/Chitosan Crosslinked with Glutaraldehyde via Phase Inversion
1. Planned, developed, and executed lecturer-led projects focusing on polymer synthesis, characterization, and applications in sustainable materials. Ensured research objectives were met efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and reproducibility.
2. Assisted in membrane fabrication and optimization, ensuring reproducibility and consistency in membrane morphology, porosity, and mechanical strength.
3. Collaborated with researchers and team members to analyze experimental results, troubleshoot synthesis challenges, and refine membrane formulations for improved selectivity and permeability.

-Learning about the fertilizer production from upstream and downstream, ammonia and urea processes, which include the utility and instrumentation units.
-Engaged in active discussions with operators to understand the operation of Distributed Control System (DCS) in ammonia, urea, and utility sections.
-Conducted mass balance calculations to evaluate the performance of the Main CO2 Removal system in ammonia plant (PIM-2) for the final report using Microsoft Office tools

The responsibilities:

-Managing all administration in HIMTEK FT-USK (proposal letters routines report)
-coordinated and guided 8 secretaries of the divisions and 1 vice general secretary related to administration.
-coordinated regarding the submission of proposals and designed mentoring programs for the administrative secretary 8 divisions.
-established accurate organization files and updated the drive database to track analyze, and report on the performance of the organizations
-maintaining confidentiality of organizational documents and information

Bioprocess Laboratory Assisant
Universitas Syiah Kuala • Magang
Promoted as 1 of 10 laboratory assistants in Bioprocess Laboratory, known as the first mandatory laboratory for chemical engineering students that focused on learning about microorganisms. It consists mainly of experiments that will be useful for chemical engineers who have interests in microbiology field.
The responsibilities:
-Collaborated with lecturers and guided 80+ students in doing experiments and demonstrated the experiment procedure of titration, inoculation, fermentation, and sterilization using an autoclave; 70% of the students got boosted score results for the subject.
-Checked and assessed the experiment reports written by the students; 80% of the students can write an actual proper scientific report.
