Throughout the whole session, I learned:
1. How Land Use Changes Affect Carbon Stock:
-Deforestation:
Impact: Reduce above-ground biomass (trees/shrubs), releasing stored carbon as CO2.
Outcome: Emits significant carbon.
-Afforestation
Impact: Restoring forests increases carbon storage as trees grow and sequester CO2.
Outcome: Carbon sequestration over time.
-Agriculture Expansion
Impact: Conversion from forest to cropland.
Outcome: Leads to loss of soil carbon and above-ground carbon, also emits CO2 due to clearing and soil disturbance.
-Grassland Conversion
Impact: Conversion to forests or agricultural land changes the soil carbon dynamics.
Outcome: Either sequester (reforestation) or emit (cropland conversion).
