Technology & Quality Assurance

PT PAL Indonesia Magang

The Technology & Quality Assurance Division carries out various critical tasks to ensure the quality and reliability of ship equipment systems. Their primary responsibilities include planning specifications for detection, electronic warfare, navigation, communication, sensory, weapon control, armament systems, and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS).

They also coordinate with system manufacturers through Interface Agreements, plan Top Side Arrangements in collaboration with Combat Management System (CMS) manufacturers, and develop Weapon Arrangements with weapon manufacturers. Additionally, this division is responsible for planning equipment lists, material lists, and Annex orders (Purchase Order Sheets) for weapon, navigation, and communication systems.

The division also manages procedures for sensor and weapon installation, creates single line diagrams, performs connection line checks, and conducts function tests. They develop documentation and implement test procedures as well as Finish Plans, ensuring the alignment of weapon system installations.

During my two-month internship in this division, I was involved in various planning and coordination projects, which provided me with in-depth insights into the technical and managerial processes of ship equipment system management and enriched my understanding of best practices in quality assurance within the maritime industry.

The Bentley Maxsurf Certification Training is a comprehensive program designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform advanced naval architecture tasks using the Maxsurf suite. Maxsurf is a leading software platform used in ship design and analysis, providing integrated tools for hull modeling, stability analysis, structural assessment, and hydrodynamic performance evaluation.

This training covers key modules such as Maxsurf Modeler (for 3D hull form creation), Maxsurf Stability (for intact and damaged stability analysis), and Maxsurf Resistance (for hull resistance and powering estimation). Participants will learn how to design fair and optimized hull forms, conduct hydrostatic and stability simulations in accordance with international maritime regulations, and interpret performance data to support engineering decisions.

The Ship Design CAD Training with a focus on AutoCAD is a specialized program aimed at introducing participants to the fundamentals of technical drawing and ship design using AutoCAD software. This training is tailored for marine engineering students, entry-level ship designers, and technical personnel in shipyards who wish to enhance their digital drafting skills in the maritime field.

Throughout the training, participants will learn the basics of 2D drafting, ship geometry, hull lines drawing, general arrangement plans, and structural detailing specific to ship design. Emphasis is placed on precision, standardization, and adherence to maritime drawing conventions. The course also includes exercises in creating and interpreting ship construction drawings, component layouts, and piping systems using AutoCAD tools.
